dog days of summa

i am sorry for not posting anything in a long time. i have been busy trying to catch up and also ride a little in the mornings before i head into the shop. bikes have been coming out and i am sensing the murmur of cyclo cross in the air. the mornings have been cool with the sun rising high and making it hot by 10 am. today is supposed to get up to 98 degrees and 104 tomorrow. despite the heat soon the clouds will roll in and the tide will turn from skinny tires to knobbies and forest park rides lasting less than two hours.

i am ordering jerseys and a couple skinsuits for matt hall, ricky and myself to race in. the jerseys are short sleeve and hott! the design is similar to the first run and i am trying to get some orders to offset the large cost of getting kits made. black and white with an asimetrical white stripe down the side and swallows on the shoulders.

work in the shop has been consistant and i am slowly getting ahead with work and bikes. i have been getting a flurry of inquiries about racks but alas i can’t afford to build racks for bikes that i don’t build. sorry. that go fast but they also add up fast in that they take time away from bike orders. sometimes the juggling act that is business is hard. it’s all about the keep is simple business plan. make bikes, ride bikes and put forth some love with both. in the end i still feel like i am living the dream.

i volunteered some time to organize bike parking for bikes to rwanda at the twilight crit a week ago and it was super fun. some hustle and some great chances to talk to people about bikes to rwanda. sorry to say i only saw trebon launch an attack in the final laps though the big crowd from a block away. lots of crashes too and i was happy to have all my skin in the end. bikes to rwanda made about $300 in donations and we generated a good amount of interest at the race.

next week is rachel’s birthday and we are riding to the coast for a couple days of bike camping to celebrate
dirty 30!

    Hey Ira,

I met you at the Hand Made show. I won’t bother trying to jog your brain to remember me though. I have been watching your site for at least a year and hope to give a deposit soon but a baby on the way is first priority. Anyway, are you planning on selling the jersey to regular people? I’d love to proudly sport it often!
    Thanks,

    Eric

Another website follower here. If you’re also interested in selling jerseys to *irregular* people, I may be up for one.
